DIN 934 HEX NUT — DIMENSIONS, WEIGHTS & ISO 4032 EQUIVALENCE

DIN 934 is the legacy German designation for the hexagon regular nut (style 1). The current standard behind it is DIN EN ISO 4032, i.e. ISO 4032:2023 — and because the dimension tables are identical, the tables on this page are the ISO 4032:2023 nut tables. All 29 sizes in our compiled data match. If your drawing says DIN 934, these are the dimensions you need; if you are issuing a new drawing, specify ISO 4032:2023.

6. Materials and finishes

Nuts are quoted in carbon steel and stainless steel (A2 / A4), with the same finish options as the matching bolts: zinc plating, hot-dip galvanizing, zinc-nickel and dacromet. For stainless grades see mechanical properties; coating comparisons are in surface treatment.

8. How to order

State the size (M10, M12 …), property class or stainless grade, finish, and quantity. If the drawing says DIN 934, say so — the dimensions are the same and we quote either designation.

9. FAQ

Is DIN 934 the same as ISO 4032?

Dimensionally yes. In our compiled data all 29 sizes match ISO 4032:2023 size by size (P, c, da, dw, e, m, mw and s). DIN 934 is the legacy German designation; the current standard is DIN EN ISO 4032 / ISO 4032:2023.

What does “style 1” mean?

DIN 934 is the standard-height hexagon regular nut (style 1). Style 2 nuts are taller and are covered by a different standard; do not substitute one for the other when height matters.

What sizes does DIN 934 cover?

M1.6 to M64 in preferred threads. Non-preferred sizes (M3.5, M14, M18, M22, M27, M33, M39, M45, M52, M60) are in the third table on this page.

Which nut fits an M10 bolt?

The M10 nut: width across flats s = 16 mm, nut height m = 8.4 mm, across-corners e = 17.77 mm, bearing face dw = 14.6 mm.

What do c, da, dw, e, m and s mean?

c = chamfer, da = thread minor diameter at the nut face, dw = bearing face diameter (min), e = width across corners (min), m = nut height, s = width across flats.

What property classes are available?

Property class selection refers to ISO 898-2 for steel nuts and ISO 3506-2 for stainless nuts. Our data set lists A2-70 and A4-70 stainless grades; steel classes are confirmed on the drawing or order.

How much does one DIN 934 nut weigh?

See the weight table: an M10 nut is about 9.44 kg per 1,000 pieces; M16 about 34.59 kg per 1,000. Values are geometric estimates, not a weighing certificate.

Is DIN 934 still valid?

DIN 934 is a legacy designation still widely used on drawings; the current international standard is ISO 4032:2023, and both call out the same nut dimensions.
