ISO 4017:2022 specifies hexagon head screws with metric coarse pitch threads from M1.6 to M64, in product grades A and B, made of steel or stainless steel. It is the current sixth edition of the standard (2022-06), replacing ISO 4017:2014, and it is the fully threaded counterpart of ISO 4014. The tables below are the standard’s own dimension tables, reproduced with the edition cited at the foot of this page.

Geometric estimate at 7.85 g/cm³ from the standard head dimensions, ±5%, excluding coating and chamfers — not a weighing certificate. Use the bolt weight calculator for any size and length.
ISO 4017 covers steel and stainless steel screws; property class selection is made from ISO 898-1 (steel) or ISO 3506-1 (stainless). We quote carbon steel and alloy steel in the classes listed above, stainless steel in A2 (304) and A4 (316), and the standard fastener coatings: zinc plated, hot-dip galvanized, dacromet and zinc-nickel (FLZNL). See surface treatment for coating comparisons.
To quote an ISO 4017 screw, state: standard and edition (ISO 4017:2022), size × length (e.g., M10 × 40), property class (8.8, 10.9, A2-70 …), finish or coating, and quantity. Tolerances and length range follow the standard’s tables; deviations must be stated on the drawing.
Dimensionally they are equivalent for the fully threaded hexagon head screw, and the dimension tables match. DIN 933 has been superseded by DIN EN ISO 4017; for new drawings use ISO 4017:2022.
ISO 4017 is the fully threaded version; ISO 4014 is the partially threaded version. Head dimensions (s, k, e) are the same — the difference is thread length b.
Property class selection refers to ISO 898-1 for steel and ISO 3506-1 for stainless steel. Our data set lists 5.6, 5.8, 8.8, 10.9 and 12.9 for steel, and A2-70 / A4-70 for stainless steel.
Product grade is a tolerance class, not a strength class. Grade A (tighter) covers the smaller sizes up to M24; grade B covers M16 to M64. The tables on this page follow the standard’s own split.
M10 coarse pitch is 1.5 mm and M12 is 1.75 mm. The pitch for every size is the first row of the dimension tables.
s = width across flats, k = head height, dw = bearing face diameter (minimum), e = width across corners (minimum). All four are in the dimension tables.
Yes. Our data set includes A2 / A4 stainless steel, and we quote zinc plated, hot-dip galvanized, dacromet and zinc-nickel (FLZNL) finishes. Confirm the coating class on the order.
See the theoretical weight table below: for example M10 × 40 is about 31.9 kg per 1,000 pieces. Values are geometric estimates at 7.85 g/cm³, ±5%, excluding coating and chamfers.
